Lasts2020 Ford Ranger XlsThe heavy-duty truck has astonished editors and journalists who are experts on road testing in the Middle East thanks to its luxury, capabilities and versatility – Ford’s midsize truck has another plus: it is also extremely fuel efficient.
Ford demonstrated the fuel-efficiency of the truck when it handed the Ranger to two digital media professionals who live in Dubai and asked them to find out how far they could travel with a single fuel tank, and to shoot a video showing their efforts.
Armed with some economical driving advice and a Ranger truck, Ahmed Jaafar and Muhammad Sarl Al-Khatim set out on this challenge in the midst of the Middle East summer. Xls Second with a 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine for support. Eager to fully fill the 80-liter fuel tank of the Ranger, they decided to drive as far as possible.
Jafar said in this regard: “We initially thought that 1,000 km would be a very ambitious goal, but with the passage of the day, the Ranger truck indicated that we could easily overcome this, and it became clear to us that we would be sitting behind the wheel for a much longer time than we expected.”
In fact, after crossing 864 km on the first day and with a quarter of a diesel tank remaining, the two men were very confident about surpassing the first 1,000 km goal as they set off on the second day.
They would not have imagined that the amount of fuel remaining would allow them to add 388 km to the challenge, for a total distance of a staggering 1,252 km.
Jafar added, “When we set out, we did not know what awaited us. We thought that we might pass 500 km, perhaps a little more, but we not only crossed the threshold of 1,000 km, but rather we broke this number, and this was a tremendous achievement. I will remember this test for a long time.”

You can also make the most of your fuel tank’s range by applying some of the helpful tips listed below.
Try to use the throttle, brake, and steering as smoothly as possible. Aggressive driving such as accelerating too fast, driving quickly and braking can significantly increase fuel consumption. You should look ahead and try to anticipate situations that could cause gears, acceleration and braking.
Use cruise control
Cruise control can help you maintain a constant speed and save fuel when driving on the highway over long straight distances. The speed limiter in Ranger is also useful for maintaining a constant speed without having to constantly monitor the speedometer.
Try to travel with the lightest load possible by keeping only the most important items (such as emergency kits, battery cables, several small tools and a lift) in the vehicle. Empty anything you do not need, and throw away the trash.
Driving quickly leads to the waste of a lot of fuel by making the engine run a lot more. You can improve fuel economy by 15 percent by driving at 90 km / h instead of 100 km / h.
Alleviate the aerodynamic resistance
Your vehicle has an aerodynamically efficient design, but external loads or driving with the windows open may increase the air resistance, which will affect the fuel economy. Covering the load may reduce drag, but on long trips we should consider placing items inside the cabin, if this is possible.
